Formations in WARHORN Game System

There are four different types of regiment formations in WARHORN game system:

  1. Very tight formation: 10 models per rank in infantry regiment / 8 models per rank in cavalry regiment.

  1. Tight formation: 8 models per rank in infantry regiment / 6 models per rank in cavalry regiment.

  1. Loose formation: 6 models per rank in infantry regiment / 4 models per rank in cavalry regiment.

  1. Skirmish formation: formation radius equals the double number of models in regiment.

First three types of formations are used to form regiments on a wide 25-centimeter bases. The fourth type of formation represents skirmishing units.

The density of formation defines the number of models, which can fight in close combat or shoot; it also affects the speed of movement, and amount of disorder inside the regiment. Besides, the density of formation has an influence upon the ability to use different types of weapons and overall vulnerability to missile fire. Density of formation is very important aspect of the game because it provides a straight effect upon the game tactic.
